I'm not normally one to rush to write a review after an experience with any merchant or retailer, but Xtreme AutoSound was different. I knew I was going to be in Louisville for Louder than Life and wanted selected Xtreme for its positive reviews. After inquiring about options to replace the factory unit on my car, the pros there presented various options and explained the differences with each. The job was done quickly and I got everything in a new stereo unit that I was seeking. It also looks incredibly good in my car. You honestly wouldn't be able to tell that it was an aftermarket product. I had a chance to experience it on my ride home of about five hours and it was great. The unit is easy to use and the sound is great. I would wholeheartedly recommend these folks!Posted on Google

Kim RichardsSeptember 10, 2026I stopped by the shop near closing time last Friday so they could listen to my blown speaker and schedule a date & time to replace my 13 year old speakers. With only 45 minutes left in their day, they took my car back and replaced all the speakers in all 4 doors. They made my day! I am thrilled that I can enjoy driving again listening to my tunes! Wouldn’t recommend for audio. Paying for sloppy work. Preface, I bought everything before hand and asked for an install. Price range quoted from 325 to 425 for single amp install on Chevy Silverado. Brought my truck in and showed them where to place the bass dial and they confirmed they could do it no problem. Was also told they had everything I brought in already in-house. Drop off in am and get a text later around 2-3. Charge was 375$, I asked what the extra cost was and the answer was they didn’t use their own gear, but you have everything I brought in, in house? Talked him down to 350$, total $400 with tax. Went out and found that they placed the dial in a different place and with a wire sticking out of the trim so it was just bowed out for the wire in the middle under the screen. ? Should've gotten a photo but knew the could fix it. After I asked They moved it. Brought it back and the trim was still bowed out. Stood there pretty much arguing with the guy that it should be fixed and he says it was like that before when I’m telling him it wasn’t. Finally the manager comes out and fixes a clip so it mounts flush. Unfortunately I didn’t check on site since I’ve only seen the amp mounted behind the back seat out of countless amp install videos I watched before taking it in and assumed they would do the same. Well they mounted it under the passenger seat in front of the air conditioner with the floor mats just leaning over it. The photos don’t do it justice since it was late when I saw it, but see photo .The floor mats would usually lay flush to the ground. Wondering why I’ve seen installs with the exact same gear I brought in mounted behind the back seat and mines half screwed in the floor with floor mats propped up over it? Why would you let that leave your shop? No mention of eq either. When I asked about the clip from earlier why the tech would leave it like that, the guy said they’re human and it happens… but you guys are supposed to be professionals… and the floor mat propped up over it was outrageous. The money is in the details. Thats why people pay 400$ for you to install…. Not worth the money.+0Posted on Google

Christopher WalkerJuly 30, 2026I brought my AMG Mercedes into Xtreme Auto Sound off Bardstown Road before you hit the YMCA, for a new Alpine touchscreen deck, and overall, I am very happy with how they handled the physical installation. The wire management is excellent; everything is tucked away nicely and lined up cleanly throughout the dashboard and engine area. While the placement of the screen wouldn't have been my first choice, there is actually a great hidden benefit: the AC keeps the deck cool during use, which in turn helps keep the cabin from heating up as quickly. The sound quality is decent—I'd call it mid-grade at this point. It is a little odd because the car is equipped with high-end speakers, and the audio quality with the original factory deck was amazing. This new unit is supposedly equivalent, if not more powerful, but the sound actually feels slightly degraded compared to the factory baseline. My primary critique comes down to the power configuration. To their credit, they were transparent in acknowledging that certain intricacies of this specific vehicle were outside their scope of expertise, and I give them the benefit of the doubt there. However, regarding the power management, I expected more proactive guidance. It would have been incredibly helpful to receive some professional advisement or preventative recommendations regarding the potential for parasitic power draw while the car sits unused. I've since had to order a shut-off device myself that severs the unit's ability to draw power when the engine is off. Since I recently finished wiring the sound system in my Audi, I am going to revisit this Mercedes setup myself around October or November, once I wrap up some of my current home projects. Given my background in electricity and robotics, I plan to test the auto-start process to see exactly what voltage threshold is required to pick up the ignition signal. Once I have the electrical completely mapped out and resolved, I plan to drop back by the shop to share my findings and ask what the reasoning was behind their specific power setup. Bottom Line: They do very clean physical installation work and use great hardware, but there is room for improvement when it comes to customer consultation on power management and optimizing the audio integration.Posted on Google
